12. Protection of Minors
The K-Start Programme is generally intended for individuals aged 18 and above. If personal data of a minor (below 18) is collected without verified parental or guardian consent, IOTA will take reasonable steps to delete such data upon notification. Parents or guardians may contact IOTA to request access to or removal of such data.
11. Third-Party Links
The K-Start platform may contain links to external websites, including Korean partner university websites, government portals, and third-party service providers. IOTA is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of external websites, and users are encouraged to review the privacy policies of those websites before providing any personal data.
10. Cookies and Analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to remember user preferences, analyse website traffic, improve content and user experience, and support location-based information delivery. You may disable cookies through your browser settings, but some website features may not function properly as a result.
9. Your Rights Under PDPA 2010
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to request access to your personal data, request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data, withdraw consent for specific processing activities such as marketing communications, request restriction or deletion of your data where legally permitted, and opt out of promotional communications at any time.
All requests are subject to identity verification and may be submitted via the contact details provided below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Department Malaysia.
8. Data Security Measures
IOTA implements reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted forms and secure servers, role-based access controls for authorised staff, regular security reviews and training, and secure communication channels for sensitive information. However, you acknowledge that no method of electronic transmission over the internet is completely secure.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. Enquiry records are retained for up to 24 months after the last interaction, application and enrolment records are retained for up to 7 years for academic, audit, or regulatory purposes, and visa or immigration-related documents are retained as required by relevant authorities. Data that is no longer required will be securely deleted or anonymised.
6. Cross-Border Data Transfers
As the K-Start Programme involves academic progression to South Korea, your personal data may be transferred to Korean partner institutions or authorised service providers outside Malaysia. IOTA ensures that such transfers are necessary for programme delivery, involve recipients who maintain appropriate data protection standards, and comply with the requirements of the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 relating to cross-border data transfers.
5. Disclosure of Personal Data
Your personal data may be disclosed, where necessary, to Korean partner universities for admission and enrolment purposes, to authorised service providers such as IT systems, cloud storage providers, and communication platforms, and to relevant regulatory authorities where required under Malaysian or South Korean law. IOTA does not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to unrelated third parties.
4. Purpose of Data Processing
We process your personal data to respond to enquiries and provide academic counselling, assess eligibility and facilitate applications to IOTA and Korean partner universities, and support visa documentation, pre-departure briefings, and student onboarding processes.
We also use your data to provide updates on programmes, intake deadlines, and scholarship opportunities (from which you may opt out at any time), to improve website functionality and service quality, and to comply with applicable Malaysian and South Korean legal and regulatory requirements.
3. How We Collect Your Data
We collect personal data directly from you through enquiry forms, WhatsApp or email communications, application submissions, and participation in briefings or orientation sessions.
We also collect data through automated technologies such as cookies and analytics tools used to improve website performance and user experience. In addition, we may collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, cookies, and browsing behaviour through website analytics.
